If you are planning to deliver a presentation in ConnectWorld it is important that you are aware of how the different spaces in the campus work and how to master the presentation tools. Here we will provide you with some tips and tricks to deliver a successful presentation.
First and foremost, we strongly recommend that you download the app in advance to set up your account and avatar. Once in the campus, you can use the arrow keys to walk forward, backwards and to turn around. You can use either your mouse or keyboard to make your avatar walk to a location in the campus. Read more here on how to create an account, customize your avatar and navigate the campus.
Your presentation most likely will be taking place in venues such as our Auditorium, our Theatre or in one of our Conference Halls, where on-stage screens are displayed. Bear in mind that you will have to walk up the stage in order to control the presentation screen and the audience. Once you go up, there are several controls that you will have to pay attention to:
Stage Control menu
Two tabs will be displayed on top of your screen reading 'Stage Controls' and 'Screen Zoom'.
If you hover your mouse over the the 'Stage Controls' tab, several options will drop down.
These options will change depending on the venue you use, but we will show you the panel that drops down in the Auditorium, which contains all the options you will find in the other spaces and more. If you want to know how all the spaces in our campus work, you can read this article.
1- Click here to turn on/off the lights in room.
2- Click here to mute/unmute the audience.
3- Click here to show/hide the chairs for the panel on stage.
4- Click here to choose between spatialized voice or flat voice. This changes the way that distant users hear your voice, similar to the way that proximity works in real life. We always want to choose the 'flat voice' option, in order to avoid having people not hearing you.
5- Click here to seat the audience. When users enter the space, they will be automatically seated. Seating is randomly assigned, so make sure that you have around the amount of chairs that you need or otherwise the app might automatically make the person seat unnecessarily far away.
6- Click here to add chairs. For example, this venue has a maximum capacity for 1.296 people.
7- Click here to hide chairs. The minimum amount of chairs you can have in the auditorium is 180.
Screen Zoom Menu
If you hover your mouse over the the 'Screen Zoom ' tab at the top of your screen, several zoom options will drop down. Again, these options will change depending on the venue you use, but we will show you the panel that drops down in the Auditorium, which contains all the options you will find in the other spaces and more. If you click on the first magnifying glass, you will zoom on the left screen.
The second one zooms in on the main screen.
The third one zooms in on the screen to the right of the audience.
The fourth one offers a full view of the whole stage.
And lastly, the fifth one will provide a view that centers just on the podium.
Once on stage, if you have privileges to edit screen contents, a toolbar will be displayed on the bottom-right corner. If there is more than one screen on stage, by default this presenter tool will help us control the main screen (the one in the middle). You can only take control of one screen at a time, so if you want to change the content of the screens at the sides, you will have to do a screen zoom on the one you want to control.
These are all the presenter tools, which means what speakers can do with the screens:
1- Browse to the previous page
2- Browse to the next page
3- Refresh the page
4-Change the URL to display a different website
5- Bookmark tabs.
If you want to show different content in a given session, but you do not want to waste time searching or loading them in the moment, you can have up to three tabs simultaneously bookmarked and loaded, plus the one you are using. You just have to load the target URL or upload your file and subsequently click the star icon on the toolbar. A new tab will pop with the selected bookmarked tab.
6- Upload a file (can be PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF, PPT, PPTX, TXT)
7- Share your computer's screen
8- Enable your webcam to stream video live
9- Options. If you click on the last button "Options" further functions will be revealed:
1- Presenter tool. If you click on this option, the toolbar will be switched to the Presenter Tool mode. This allows the user to see what’s on the screen while facing the audience. Moving the mouse cursor over the presenter tool screen will move the cursor on the actual board as well.
2- Reset the board. By clicking on this option, you will reset the screen to a default URL.
3- Take ownership. If you click on this option, you will be only one who can control the screen.
4- Remove Ownership. If you click on this option, you will remove the ownership from whoever has it.
5- Launch free conference call: will use a third party tool to initiate a conference call.
6- Zoom in/out

In order to use the laser pointer, you will have to press the number 2 key. And to point at the screen, you can either look at thee screen and point directly or you can point with your cursor at the presentation tool and, if you have the laser in your hand, it will automatically mimic the pointing at the big screen.
