Security settings preventing ConnectWorld from launching
When installing ConnectWorld for the first time, Windows might think it as a threat (due to it not coming from the Windows Store) and prevent it from starting. To run the app smoothly, you can follow these instructions:
1. Click the "More info" link.
2. Click on "Run anyway" button.
When you install the app for the first time on MacOS, it may happen that the app cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer (due to not being distributed through the App Store). To run the app propely, you can follow these instructions:
1. Drag the app into the Applications folder. Open the Applications folder.
2. Click on "Open" on the dialog that will pop-up. (note: the pop-up window will look similar in different macOS versions like Mojave, Catalina and Big Sur)
If you are on a corporate or business network, speak with your IT department to allow ConnectWorld through your company's firewall. The information your IT department will need in order to allow ConnectWorld access depends on the type of impediment.
If it is a problem when connecting to the voice server, it's a matter of opening UDP ports 5060 and 80 to allow information to be transmitted and received.
If the problem lies with accessing our website and/or downloading our application, the resolution is to ask your IT department to allow connections to our domain name and the exact URL that we use to trigger the download for the application.
Patch decompression or caches errors
If your version of ConnectWorld appears corrupted, or the the patching system reports repeated failures you will have to clear all previous downloads and caches and download the app from scratch. There are two ways of doing it:
As the error pops up, usually 'Patch Failed', a button will be shown reading 'Reset Patcher (Reinstall from scratch)'. If you click here, you will be able to download and run the app again.
Another way is to manually re-download the ConnectWorld installer. Once the installer opens, check the box labeled "Remove any existing downloads and caches".
Note: a 'Patch Failed' error can also happen when you are out of Hard Drive space and you will know this is the case because right below the error it will be indicated as 'It looks like you are out of Hard Drive Space'. For the app to run properly then, you will have to clear some space and then manually re-download ConnectWorld.
To fix the issue on MacOS you will have to delete a folder named ~/Library/ConnectWorld. The Library folder is hidden from view in the regular Finder window, so you must search for it.
Open the Finder application.
Open the "Go" dropdown menu and select "Go to folder".
Type in ~/Library and press "Go".
Search through the folders and delete any folder that begins with "ConnectWorld".
